Damh The Bard

The Bard enjoyed playing the Vic SO MUCH last year that hes decided to come back!!

Damh the Bard – is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality and love of folk tradition is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. Drawing on the Bardic tradition, his performances are both entertaining and educational, speaking directly to the heart, and never without a good splash of humour.

With eight outstanding albums, and singing and speaking engagements all over the world, Damh has become one of the most popular contemporary pagan musicians – a musical storyteller who works within the world of myth: where the Faerie really do dance on Midsummers Eve, where the trees talk, and the Hollow Hills take you into the realms of Annwn, where the Goddess rides her horse, guiding you to magic, and the Horned God of old calls to you from the shadows of the Greenwood.

Along with his musical concerts, Damh has also given talks, run workshops and participated in panel discussions at conferences and camps in the UK, Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA, with his favourite topics including Druidry, Awen and the creative quest, magick, treelore, and Arthurian lore.

Swindon Shuffle

DIAGONAL PEOPLE

Fridays headliners for The Victoria first troubled our ears whilst they were teenagers still at school. The precocious multi-instrumental talent that existed within the core members even aged 15 was astonishing. However, since they all surpassed the age of consent and could gig proper venues they have truly exploded onto the circuit, their schizophrenic sound incorporating pretty much every genre known to man, but in an impossibly cohesive way. It veers between Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, New Wave, Shoegaze, Dreampop, Prog, Psych and Post-almost-anything-since-1967, a remarkable feat when you consider the bands tender years. Huge respect to the curators of their musical education, for it has been hugely worthwhile.

Epic is a word that gets too often misappropriated, but when used about this band it is accurate in several ways – they are epic in scale and scope, epic in perception and actuality, producing futurist pieces of work with roots firmly of yesteryear, delivering a message from the here and now heavily accented by the past. Add the crazy on stage costumes, visuals and performance and you get a genuine sensory overload.

Diagonal People are a band with a vision, a band with a message, a band not afraid to experiment, to push boundaries and see what happens. The modern music industry needs shaking up, and we rather feel this shaking will be done by some Diagonal People.

THE TRIBE

Yes we are proud to announce that local hip hop and reggae collective The Tribe will be headlining The Victoria on the Saturday night (15th July) at this years festival following their headline show on the Swindon Shuffle stage at the Childrens Fete last year.

Anyone who was there, or who has caught them in recent years at other festivals like Boom Town and The Reggae Garden, will know that The Tribe are brilliant at getting a festival crowd bouncing with their infectious drum grooves, smooth bass lines and offbeat reggae guitar skanks, underpinning AJs easy going rap lyrics and KTs sweet pop vocals.

We couldnt think of a better way to end the Saturday night than with AJ and co taking to the stage to ensure youre bouncing all the way through to the Sunday!

Whos Next?

Whos Next are the #1 live tribute to The Who. They capture a magical point in time when many believe that The Who were the greatest rock and roll band on earth. Whos Nexts live show aims to recreate this period in the 1970s with the aid of authentic stage wear and instruments. The result is a time machine ride back to the days of Live at Leeds, The Isle of Wight Festival, Tanglewood and the Fillmore shows. It is a must for any Who fan!

The Greatest Hits set includes all of Pete Townshends classic pop songs from adrenaline-fuelled Mod classics such as I cant explain, Substitute and Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere to the psychedelic imagery of Tommys – Pinball Wizard, Sparks and Amazing Journey, not forgetting rock anthems like My Generation, Baba O Riley and a show-stopping version of Wont Get Fooled Again.

Whos Next have been touring the UK and Europe since 2003 and are widely regarded as the #1 live tribute to The Who. 2017 is the bands 14th Anniversary year. Their longevity is a testament to their popularity and professionalism
