The Scruff + The Sulks + Kevin and The Vandals

ASYLUM SESSIONS PRESENTS

The Scruff are a band back in the saddle after a somewhat turbulent year that has seen some major changes, both in life and as a band. The Bedford natives have seen a member emigrate, a rebuilding process and a new outlook on their sound fuelled by the passing of a beautiful soul that inspired their latest single Her.

The single is the bands most personal work to date, not only an ode to those who never had the time to say goodbye, but also to all the important women who help nurture and shape our lives. While previous release Leave it Alone captured the boisterous guitar-fronted alt-pop that their live shows deliver, bandmates Adam, Jack, Omar and Sam, have taken on a far more ambitious project with this next single, an anthemic, uplifting, stadium rousing track that will resonate with anyone who loves and has lost.

Since the band drafted in new lead guitarist Jack, The Scruff have been writing and crafting their sound and their skills, with a brand new set, and a whole heap of new tracks recorded, ready to unleash on an unsuspecting public. Their previous release saw buzzy reaction from online blogs and their vivacious and energetic live shows have led them to a string of headline shows as well as landing supports from the likes of Pete Doherty, DMAs and Gaz Coombes among many others.

This feels like the rebirth of a band ready to break, an introduction to four guys ambitious and willing enough to back up the size of their tunes. Come along for the ride and go and tell someone you love them.

Limehouse Lizzy

Limehouse Lizzy are officially one of the hardest working bands in the UK. They were accredited for their live shows by the Performing Rights Society in December 2011 and received their certificate from PRS Chairman (and respected songwriter) Guy Fletcher OBE.

Renowned for an action-packed pyrothechnic-fuelled explosion of a show, Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore who sadly passed recently.

Attention to detail, playful audience interaction and that all important X-factor that leaves you with the feeling of witnessing the real thing have led to their performance being described as beyond tribute, by both audience and critics alike.

The DeRellas + Charred Hearts

THE DeRELLAS

Heard you missed them... well they are back and this time they are firing on all cylinders.

From the minute Rip It Up comes kicking through your speakers you are reaching for the volume dial and up, up, up and away we go!

Rip It Up is gritty, loud, in your face and sonically blissful. With new boy Billion Dollar Bish pounding the drums and singer Stevie D in the fold, its a powerful proposition I find before me. Big riffs and looking for a rumble, The DeRellas have gone a tad more rock (make that punk rock) and a little less glam slamming: more Dead Boys than Glitter Band... and boy is it sweet (no pun intended)!

Strung Out In Sin City is certainly more in the dark and dirty Dead Boys camp as Luca plays a blinder as he hacks and slashes all over the song. Maybe a contender for one of the finest tunes this year so far. Its sleazy late night rock and roll at its best and Soho Hotel continues the walk on the wild side with some top trashy chorus melody. Stevie D has settled into his surroundings and owns the frontman slot with yet another stirling performance.

With only six tracks on this new mini album, the band sound fired up, and in the title track Freakshow Freddie has a most fitting trashy theme song, its like a vintage melting pot of Misfits orror meets Londons Soho Roses downing a bucketful of Thunderbird then playing their favourite Neurotic Outsiders songs with a big shit-eating grin and tongue firmly planted in someones elses cheek. This is gonna stomp the EP of the year. Dress Up, Mess Up closes the original songs on offer and is again splendid with its bvs and cheek rock n roll likcs as a rather fitting and dandy take on Adam & The Ants Plastic Surgery takes this record home.. and what a version it is too: if you are gonna cover a song then wear it, own it, live it, and play it like its yours - and thats exactly what The DeRellas have done.

Ive been impressed with every release from this band in whatever guise and whoever is in the line up, but this EP has blown me away. A welcome adition to your record collection and available on 10inch or CD, Freakshow is The DeRellas at the top of their game and playing a glam slamming - punk rocking blinder!

CHARRED HEARTS

Charred Hearts are an old school UK Punk Band hailing from Swindon in the Southwest, originally called The Corpses, they formed in 1981. They were came together from the remnants of their previous two bands, The BCGs and Static Annoyers. A bunch of street-drinking 15 & 16 year old urchins, they found their mini-rebellion in a disenchanted Thatcherite England easy. The band were followed by their local Corpses Barmy Army.

In 2009 a tour of Scandinavia took place and then a slot on the 2009 Rebellion festival in Blackpool. A Punk Rock classic single Persecute Me was released by this line-up.
2010 saw a headline slot at a Punk festival in France, a return appearance at the Rebellion festival and shows across France, Germany and Spain.

In 2011 the Charred Hearts celebrated their 30th anniversary! They lined up a year of live gigs with bands like the Buzzcocks, Anti-Nowhere League, GBH, UK Subs, The Defects and Blitzkrieg to name but a few, along with local gigs and a short tour of Germany combined with appearances at the Stoke Ska/Punk Fest, Nice n Sleazy Festival, Glasgow Phoenix Mayhem Punkfest and Rebellion Festival ... it was certainly a busy year them!

Awakening Savannah + Special Guests

Formed 2 years ago Awakening Savannah is an original hard rock 3 piece from Swindon who prides themselves on dark lyrics along with weighty power chords. With a set list that ranges from solid metal riffs to melodic acoustics, this band has the ability to convert any non-believer of rock into a guitar worshiping disciple.

2017 has seen the band play a few of the local festivals in the surrounding area along with an increasing growth in popularity and followers. The band are constantly writing new material and usually have a couple of fresh tracks at every gig. If you like your rock music or are surreptitiously tempted to tip toe over to the dark side then Awakening Savannah are a definite must see this year.

Cockney Rejects + The Menstrual Cramps

COCKNEY REJECTS
Cockney Rejects were formed in 1978 by brothers Jeff and Micky Geggus, with their brother-in-law Chris Murrell on bass and Paul Harvey on drums. Their first demo, Flares n Slippers, caught the attention of Small Wonder Records owner Pete Stennett, who introduced the band to Bob Sergeant. With Sergeant, they recorded their single I Wanna Be A Star, which sold out its first pressing. Murrell and Harvey were then replaced by Vince Riordan on bass and Andy Scott on drums, from fellow East End London band, The Tickets. This became known as Cockney Rejects classic lineup, and its debut at the Bridge House in Canning Town in June 1979 is considered a turning point for the band. In September of that same year, the band signed with EMI and released their album Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 in February 1980.

Their biggest hit single in the United Kingdom, 1980s The Greatest Cockney Rip-Off, was a parody of Sham 69s song Hersham Boys. Other Cockney Rejects songs were less commercial, partly because they tended to be about hard-edged topics such as street fighting or football hooliganism. Other singles to appear in the UK were Bad Man, We Can Do Anything, and We Are the Firm — all from 1980.
The band released their most recent album, Unforgiven, on the G&R London independent record label in May 2007.
EMI records are releasing a definitive Rejects retrospective on August 29. Called Join the Rejects, the Zonophone years 79-81, its a 3-disc collection of all their EMI recordings including all the Peel sessions and rare demos from the day. Also included is a colour booklet with a blow-by-blow account of the stories behind the music by Micky Geggus.
The Rejects movie East End Babylon hit the cinemas across the uk in Oct 2012, and was released on Dvd in March 2013, with an album of the same name released at the same time. 2012 saw the band headline the Redbull Bedroom Jam stage at Download Festival at Donnington Park.In Nov 2013 they undertook a uk tour which saw most shows sellout ! 2014 was the bands 35th anniversary and again enjoyed another successful uk tour.
