Chuck Mosley + Elea Calvet + Phil Cooper +

This is a big deal for us. A really big deal. Faith No More are a band that SoP promoter Ed in particular grew up listening to. He has the albums, the tour tickets and the festival memories. The unlikely funked up anthem We Care A Lot was the introduction to this band, the vocalist in the day-glow video a dread-locked figure of kinetic energy and a compelling focus to the band. That vocalist was Chuck Mosely, who after performing on their first 2 albums sadly soon parted ways with the band to forge his own path (although ending up for a time in US punk stalwarts Bad Brains was not a bad next move). That path has somehow brought him to a spot at The Victoria in Swindon, on October 6th

Once again teaming up with our best buddies in Sheer Music, we have the huge pleasure of hosting Chuck as part of his Reintroduce Yourself World tour, an acoustic run through the long musical career of this iconic performer. Tickets are £10 in advance from seetickets.com or The Victoria or more on the door.

Support comes in the shape of local folk-punk troubadour Phil Cooper and his witty and wonderful songs and Bristols answer to Anna Calvi, the electrifying Elea Calvet who will terrify and mesmerise in equal measure.

Whole Lotta DC

One of the UKs finest AC/DC Tribute Acts

AC/DC, legends in their own right and one of the most exciting and hardest working bands in rock history, have in turn spawned one of the most exciting and hardest working tribute bands on the scene today.
Whole Lotta DC are an authentic representation of AC/DC, providing the full breath-taking stage show loved by all true rock fans.

Like a night with one of the ladies celebrated in the Aussie rock gods songs, the Whole Lotta DC experience leaves you feeling sweaty, slightly ashamed and with a bloody great grin across your face.

The rhythm section accurately nails the solid four-on-the-floor boogie while a wall of tight-as-a-gnats chuff guitar knocks you off your feet. On top of all that, the unmistakable vocals and charisma of Brian / Bon and Angussearing lead work and naughty-boy antics including the stripping are recreated in stunning fashion.

Now that AC/DC tours are few and far between, Whole Lotta DC offer a chance to get up close and personal with the legendary act and are a must-see for fans.

From day one the band have blown away audiences at every venue they have played, from small pubs to large outdoor events, and continue to build a loyal fan base who know they are in for the true AC/DC experience every time they play.

Lonely Ocean + Black Atlas + Over To You

LONELY OCEAN

Lonely Ocean became in late 2015 and had an immediate original sound. Their sound flows between Foo Fighters and All American rejects from their Heavy Rock riffs to massive grooving choruses that you wont be able to stop your head from bopping to.

The band consists of members Parkin, Bryant, Shrimp & Jacobs.

The band has not long been formed and have already been in the studio recording their first E.P.

If there is something to watch in 2016 its Lonely Ocean, it is far from calm.

BLACK ATLAS

OVER TO YOU

We are Over To You, a punk rock band from Swindon formed in 2014. We draw our influences from Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Green Day, Lower Than Atlantis and The Story So Far, among others. We always deliver high-energy performances and want to see everyone enjoying themselves!

We have released two singles, Alone Again (October 2014) with a music video shot in February 2015. And, In Your Dreams, (September 2015). These are available for free download here: https://overtoyou.bandcamp.com/

Backbeat Soundsystem + SN Dubstation

BACKBEAT SOUNDSYTEM

Made with movement in mind. Stomping bass, dub synths & steady grooves.

Backbeat Soundsystem are a different beast. In a UK reggae scene that has long eschewed bands in favour of sound systems, Backbeat brings 8 musicians to the stage. While much of the current scene is centered in London and a few other major markets, BBSS hail from far west Cornwall. And, while many of their peers are slavish in their attempt to recreate an authentic Jamaican-leaning sound, Backbeat Soundsystem are not afraid to go in totally different directions, pulling in influences from all across the music spectrum, to create their vision of modern reggae. With all of this, Backbeat stands out in the current scene – pushing the envelope in their studio productions and pumping up crowds in their live set.

SN DUBSTATION

After years of playing with ideas, SNdubstation has come to life! Fusing reggae, ska and dub, their sound is definitely worth a party

With gigs all over the UK this young band is set to make a big impression on the festival circuit this year.

Hailing from Swindon, Wiltshire, SN Dubstation are a lively 8 piece band comprising of Drums, Bass, Keys, Guitar and that all important Brass section. They have taken their inspiration from traditional reggae and ska, but added their own twist of energy to make some fantastically infectious music that is guaranteed to get everyone moving.

Flight Brigade + George Wilding + TriAmi

We are very pleased to have folk-rock-indie-pop cross-over band Flight Brigade playing a show at The Victoria on 20th October! This is a band really poised for big things, so we are stoked to have bagged a show on their UK tour promoting their debut album.

Last year was an incredibly successful one for Flight Brigade. With rave reviews for their EP, Stealing Fire, along with Record of the Days the best unsigned band we saw live at The Great Escape, they played packed out stages at Glastonbury and Bestival and had their first TV feature (of their When We Were Young video) on Channel 4s Sunday Brunch.

Continuing the upward trajectory, 2016 opened with When We Were Young featured as Shock of the New on Radio X as the band finished golden song-writing sessions while recording and mixing on the South Coast. The bands live schedule rolls out another festival-filled Summer leading up to the release of their debut album Our Friends, Our Enemies this September.

Main support is from George Wilding in full band mode, his evocotive and poetic songs given new dimensions and added drama in this exciting new format. Opening the show is the incredible harmony vocals and atmospheric electro folk-pop of TriAmi, who made a huge impression on their first show for us.

We have a very limited number of early bird tickets available at just £3.50 available online only at seetickets (link above). General tickets are £5.00, available from the venue or online once earlybirds have been snapped up

Bobby The Persuader 20th Anniversary + The State Were In + Special Guests

Bobby The Persuaderby The Persuader is (will be!) 20!
During the balmy summer of 1996 with the world mixed up in Britpop n stuff, my esteemed friend Serge Faberge and I were playing lots of records and generally having an amazing time as residents in the chill out room in Brunel Rooms Swindon. One night James Savage from ONE LOVE at Lakota - Bristol came in and said he needed us to play his next allnighter, this came with the requirement we came up with a name. With divine intervention and a love of 70s TV came the birth of The Persuader.
Other residencies include Soda, The Underground and Ive been a regular in Shangri-La Glastonbury Festival over the last 5 events. This included being the co-host DJ in Heaven with Mixmaster Morris and Thom Yorke in 2013 and headlining alongside Craig Charles and Norman Jay (MBE) for Island Records in 2015. Best gigs this year so far has to be playing in the Disco Lift at the London Remixed Festival and the amazing Lush Creative Showcase....
The first proper Persuader gig was the 18th of October 1996 we played alongside Judge Jules and Norman Jay until 6am and here we all are 20 years later...well on Friday 21st October 2016

To celebrate 20 laps of persuasion around the sun Im putting on my only ever night (a one off!!) Ive got an ear-picked list of my favorite bands (a Persuader revue!)

Bands, causing trouble, records, drinks, psych/indie/ soul fun, dancing till late......A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

Special Guests/Andy Warhol superstars for the evening will be:
Waterbirds
The beautiful psychedelic duckling that was Nudy Bronque has blossomed into the beautiful psych-soul freakout that is Waterbirds. After years packing venues throughout the UK the new band has gone straight to the festival circuit wowing crowds at Larmer Tree Festival, Fieldview Festival, Green Man Festival and Boomtown Fair this summer. Im especially proud to be able to get them in to do their first gig in Swindon, come and experience the future!

Plummie Racket & The Dicemen

Plummie has been gigging here there and every where for the last 8 years landing support slots with Space the Band, Sham-69, Twisted Wheell, Inspiral Carpets and many more taking him on tours of Germany for the last 3 years. Channeling the rock n roll mainline with a full band line up the sound has been transformed, records have been made and ready to gig making this not a show to be missed. Cmon feel the cool...

Kid Calico and the Astral Ponies
They make a joyous racket wet and grubby from the musical ground from which it bubbles, brushed off and thrown to the wind with delightful abandon. They stalk in the shadows of the E street band, stumbling sideways into a drunken Dr John shuffle whilst copying Jonathan Richman meeting Tom Waits. They lose themselves in a stoned Floydian blur one minute, then The Band busking on (English suburban) Desolation Row the next . Somewhat implausibly, they do exist, but only you can prove they are real.

Case Hardin + Black Sheep Apprentice + Tamsin Quin

CASE HARDIN

Case Hardin take their name from Boston Terans noir thriller God Is A Bullet (Pan 2000). In the finest tradition of naming groups, it came about by virtue of being little more than a character name in the book songwriter Pete Gow was reading when the call came through that they had secured their first gig; necessity was, as is so often the way, the mother of invention on that day.

But can the name and the naming be written off so casually? To case harden means to toughen by experience…. and the Gow, Emery, Bastow, Maving nucleus of Case Hardin has toughened its look, toughened its direction, its sound and toughed it out through various musicians who came and went over the years.

2012’s PM album stood, in the critics eyes, as a high point. A benchmark for a band firmly in the pocket, providing perfectly poised musical vehicles for the work of a songwriter who unmistakably arrived… cialis 10mg cost.

Pete Gow is a songwriter like no other – Q (Roots Album of the Month)

It seems Case Hardin is all about the story and the telling of that story. In concert Gows songs are carried by the power of that band, unswervingly dedicated to being in the service of those songs.

Incredible… Case Hardin rock harder than most – Maverick Festival 2015
